Product Description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Volarević is a family-run winery located in Croatia. It originally began as a farm with a nursery (the largest in the country). In 2005, the family decided to plant new vineyards and dedicate themselves to producing high-quality local wines. The Plavac Mali grapes come from a young, organically farmed vineyard located in Komarna, with soils containing 50% limestone. The partial slope and proximity to the sea with its currents ensure warmth and optimal exposure during the day for perfect ripening, while cool nighttime temperatures favor the development of a well-balanced acidity. After manual harvesting at night (to preserve the aromatic character) and vinification, the wine ages for 1.5 to 2 years in a mix of new and used barrels. This aging is followed by a period of stabilization in stainless steel and a further year in the bottle. The resulting wine has a bright, intense color with ruby red hues. Its aromatic profile is expressive and fruity, with notes of black cherry and wild berries, followed by vanilla and tobacco hints. On the palate, it is full-bodied, concentrated, and elegant, with a delicate, well-integrated acidity and firm yet smooth tannins. The finish is long and fruity. Try it with stuffed lamb leg or grilled meat.
