Product Description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. The Damilano winery was technically founded under its current name in the 1930s, but the company had already existed since 1890, when it was created by Giuseppe Borgogno. His son-in-law Giacomo Damilano then took over, expanding it and transforming it into one of the most renowned estates in the area, now in the hands of the fourth generation of the family. The Barbera grapes come from vineyards located in the Asti area, at over 270 meters above sea level on limestone soils. Here, the vines, averaging 30 years old, enjoy southeast/southern exposure. After vinification, the wine ages in stainless steel and large barrels to preserve its aromatic intensity and fresh fruitiness. In the glass, the wine reveals an intense, brilliant purple color. Its aromatic profile is broad and fragrant, with notes of cherry, currant, and plum, interspersed with hints of violet, and a light touch of vanilla in the background. On the palate, it is fruity, juicy, and round, with a refreshing acidity and soft, smooth tannins. The finish is long and complex, with light spicy notes. Like all Barberas, it is a versatile and food-friendly wine: try it with grilled meats, veal ossobuco, and pasta dishes with meat sauces.
