Dropworks Dark Drop Rum is Made from a decadent blend of two rich sugar-cane molasses-based distillations at the DropWorks Rum Distillery, this super soft twice pot-distilled Dark Rum celebrates everything that is decadently beautiful about this raw material, and boasts notes the juiciest of blackcurrant and liquorice vibes, as well as a splash of vanilla and coconut.. The first distillation is pot distilled with very clean cuts, delivering a refined and pristine character. The second is double retort distilled, but with flavour rich Dunder (similar to sour mash in Bourbon whiskey) added to the second retort which super charges the esters!. Rich Vanilla and caramel flavours are the fantastic result of a 7 day long maturation process, with American Oak chips (not sugar!), with classic Dark Rum notes of liquorice and star anise coming from the double pot molasses distillation.. What sets Dark Drop Rum apart from the rest? Well other than the unique flavour and production process, there is no added sugar, glycerol or flavourings, just a Drop of traditional caramel colouring to suit the deep dark colour of the category.. The result? Tongue-tickling sweetness; bursting with blackcurrant, liquorice and star anise notes. Mix up a storm with Dark Drop Rum using lashings of ginger beer, stir down in an old fashioned or shake up in an espresso rumtini. Dark Drop lights up any drink.. Raw material: Molasses. Fermentation: Two fermentations, both with trinity yeast 7 days. Distillation: Double pot distilled spirit, blended with double retort distilled spirit with Dunder to supercharge esterification. Maturation: 1 week rested with American Oak Wood Chips, heavy charr. Additives: Caramel colouring 6mg p/l (category aesthetic purposes only). No added sugar. Distilled by: Shaun “Yeast Beast” Smith. Blended: 2 different mark: 1 part Double Retort spirit and 5 parts Double Pot distilled spirit. Dark Drop Rum is a combination of two distillations; both from sugar-cane molasses and fermented with the DropWorks exclusive, world-first Wild Trinity Yeast, but both with their own distinct personality and flavours..
