Product Description

Seifuku Umeshu is a bottle made with Seifuku Shuzo's Awamori, a type of Okinawan spirit, with Nanko plums from Wakayama. The use of the Nanko-Ume gives it a refreshing acidity, with the brown sugar also adding a rich, savoury sweetness. It has received high praise for its quality, including a top prize at the Tenma Tenjin Plum Wine Competition 2010. This umeshu has pronounced aromas of almonds, fresh plums and marzipan with a note of candied orange zest. The palate presents predominantly umeboshi (pickled plum) and a 'sweet ; sour' character with a pleasant hint of tartness, finishing in a lingering, crispy and almost citrusy refreshing way. It pairs well with almond cake, marzipan base dessert, and fruit cake. Serve well chilled (4-8°C), with ice, with soda water or sparkling water. Store in a dry and cool place, avoiding direct sunlight.
