Isle of Raasay Hebridean Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Dùn Cana Sherry Quarter Cask Release 70cl

Nestled off the coast of Skye, the Isle of Raasay Distillery has quickly become one of Scotland’s most exciting new whisky producers. Founded in 2013 by Bill Dobbie and Alasdair Day, its ambition has always been to create Scotland’s leading artisanal distillery, with every drop produced, matured, bottled and marketed on Raasay itself. Home to just 161 people, Raasay is central to the distillery’s ethos. It has brought new jobs, worked closely with local businesses, and become deeply embedded in the island community. The island’s landscape and heritage also inspire each release. This annual single malt honours Raasay’s volcanic mountain, Dùn Cana — Gaelic for an elevated stronghold. Local legend tells of the warrior Cana who once held watch from the summit, which today offers sweeping views from Applecross to Skye. Winner of ‘World’s Best Whisky 2024’ according to Forbes, Dùn Cana is crafted from peated and unpeated spirit, first matured in American rye casks before a second maturation in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry quarter casks. The result is a whisky of peppery spice, dried sultanas and sweet vanilla, finishing with lingering salted chocolate and a gentle wisp of aromatic smoke.
