Located in La Morra, Piedmont, the Ratti winery was founded in the 1960s when Renato Ratti, after working for years in Brazil, returned to his hometown and purchased a small vineyard beneath the Abbey of the Annunciation in La Morra, in the Marcenasco area. Today, the company, led by Renato's son, Pietro, owns approximately 35 hectares of vineyards spread across six estates. Langhe Nebbiolo Reggimento is produced with grapes from a south-facing parcel purchased in 2019, located in the highest part of La Morra at almost 500 meters above sea level, facing the Alps. After harvesting and temperature-controlled vinification, the finished wine ages for one year in barrel. The label was designed by Renato Ratti and pays homage to the exploits of 19th-century Piedmontese soldiers defending against Napoleonic invasions. In the glass, the wine displays a clear and brilliant ruby ​​red color. Its aromatic profile is delicate and fragrant, with fruity notes of raspberry and wild strawberry, and hints of violet typical of Nebbiolo. On the palate, it is full-bodied and rounded, smooth and juicy, with firm yet well-integrated tannins and a long, pleasantly bitter finish. It pairs ideally with mushroom scallops or porcini mushroom risotto.
