Kranz Ilbesheimer Westerberg Riesling Premier Cru dry, 75cL WineBy Winebuyers

1 x 75cl. 'Mango sweetness floods the mouth but comes with a gorgeous salt and pepper crunchy spiciness. This is a fabulous wine. Under the opulent tropicality of the fruit (golden, passion fruit) it is dense and strong, weaving in darker, savoury threads of rye and toasted buckwheat and caraway. The Ilbesheimer Westerberg site, on the west slope of the 'kleine Kalmit', is a unique combination of rock, with extremely calcareous soil and a unique microclimate of cool morning temperatures and long evening sun. The result is ripe, healthy grapes. Tamlyn Currin of Jancis Robinson gave it 17 points.
