Founded in 1804 by Baron du Mesnil, Domaine Marquis d'Angerville is a family-run winery with a long history. The estate was purchased by the Marquis d'Angerville after the European phylloxera crisis and restored by replanting Pinot Noir. Since then, the winery has remained in family hands, first with Jacques, the Marquis's son, who took over the estate in 1952, and then with Guillaume d'Angerville in 2003. The Chardonnay grapes come from a plot of approximately one hectare planted by Sem d'Angerville in 1905, in this area of the Meursault appellation. This terroir, very similar to that of Volnay in terms of soil and climate, is characterized by marly soils capable of producing exceptional white and red wines. After the harvest, the wine is fermented and aged in barrels. Meursault Premier Cru Santenots from Domaine Marquis d'Angerville is an elegant and fragrant wine that reveals fruity aromas of peach, exotic fruit, acacia, hazelnut, and anise on the nose. On the palate, it is rounded and fresh, rich and fruity, with a refreshing acidity and a pleasant savory and mineral note that lingers into the long finish. It is the ideal wine with poultry, but also pairs well with fish and seafood.
