Product Description
Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Founded in 1994, Feudi Salentini is a winery owned by the Varvaglione family. Located in Leporano, in the province of Taranto, Feudi Salentini owns old bush-trained vineyards on the Salento peninsula, where the Primitivo and Negroamaro vines enjoy an exceptional landscape, surrounded by olive groves and the sea. The company's name refers to the area's feudal agricultural traditions. The grapes of the native and lesser-known Susumaniello variety come from the sunny vineyards of the Salento peninsula, where sea breezes create the perfect climate for slow ripening. After harvesting and a brief pre-fermentation maceration, fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature to preserve freshness and aromatic character. The finished wine then ages in large barrels for approximately six months. In the glass, Feudi Salentini's Susumaniello reveals a vibrant and intense ruby color with purple highlights. Its aromatic profile is broad and ripe, with fragrant notes of berries, plum, and wild cherry, followed by spicy hints and some earthy nuances. On the palate, it is soft, silky, and deep, with smooth tannins and a pleasant concentration of fruit and spices. It has a long, balanced finish that recalls the aromas perceived on the nose. It is a wine that surprises with its seductive character. It pairs well with savory pasta dishes such as amatriciana or arrabbiata, grilled lamb, and medium-aged pecorino cheeses.
