Product Description
Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in Gevrey-Chambertin, in the Côte de Nuits, Domaine Henri Magnien is a Burgundy winery founded in 1656 and still family-run today. The estate covers approximately 7 hectares of vineyards between Gevrey-Chambertin and Corton, and is now managed by Charles Magnien, the twelfth generation of the family. Production focuses on Pinot Noir using a proprietary clone called Pinot Magnien, characterized by a high level of concentration and complexity in the wines. The Pinot Noir grapes come from a small, enclosed plot located in the Queue de Hareng vineyard, above the village of Brochon, and a few meters from Fixin. Here, the vines are planted on a slope with limestone soils and enjoy north/south exposure. After spontaneous fermentation, the finished wine ages for a year in French oak (25% of which is new). The Côte de Nuits-Villages Queue de Hareng Clos Francois Thurot Monopole is an elegant wine with a broad and complex aromatic profile revealing ripe notes of cherry, raspberry, and small red berries, alternating with hints of spice and undergrowth. On the palate, it is soft and medium-structured with velvety, rounded tannins. It is juicy, smooth, and lively, with a medium-long finish and delicate hints of wild berries. Try it with roast partridge or guinea fowl.
