Product Description
Cellar for up to 9 years. Serve chilled. Terre Alte is the most famous wine from the iconic Livio Felluga estate. First produced in 1981, the wine helped to establish a global reputation for Italian white wines and remains to this day one of Friuli’s most authentic and impressive wines. The blend is composed of Friulano, Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon Blanc sourced from the Felluga family’s prized Rosazzo vineyards which are harvested at the end of September. Following the harvest the grapes are vinified separately by variety with the Pinot Bianco and the Sauvignon Blanc are fermented in stainless steel tanks where they remain for a further 10 months to mature. The Friulano, which is native to the Friuli region, is fermented and subsequently aged for 10 months in small French oak barrels. The final blend is then decided and the wine is bottled and then aged for a further 9 months in the bottle. This lengthy vinification process gives the Terre Alte its unique flavour profile which is both well-structured and rounded on the palate as well as having a bright acidity and delicate fruit and floral aromatics. On the nose there are intense aromas of jasmine, acacia blossom, ripe peach and hints of passion fruit while the palate reminds of crème brûlé, buttery croissants, vanilla and candied almonds.
