Product Description

The Henschke family has been crafting exceptional wines in South Australia for over 150 years, making them one of the most celebrated producers in the country. Now led by fifth-generation winemaker Steven Henschke and his wife Prue, a viticulturist and environmentalist, the family’s legacy includes pioneering sustainable practices and biodynamic farming in their vineyards. Their historic winery is in the Eden Valley, known for its cooler climate that produces refined red wines with great depth and elegance. Mount Edelstone is the longest continuously produced single-vineyard Shiraz in Australia, first bottled by Cyril Henschke in 1952. The 16-hectare vineyard was planted in 1912 on ancient clay-loam soils, yielding intensely flavoured grapes from dry-farmed, century-old vines. The Shiraz is hand-harvested, then aged for 20 months in both French and American oak, followed by three years of bottle ageing. Discover bold notes of blackberry, blackcurrant and sage with a touch of cedar. Ideal with venison or mature cheeses, the wine’s fine tannins and complexity promise longevity, making it age worthy for over 30 years beyond its vintage. A must-try wine for any dedicated Shiraz fan.
