Founded in 1977 by Jacques and Françoise Boyer, Domaine de la Croix Belle lies on the slopes of the Cévennes, just north of Béziers in the Languedoc. Over the years, the estate has been extensively modernised, with the vineyards completely replanted and the cellar transformed. Today, it spans 110 hectares planted with 16 different grape varieties, offering a wide range of wines with exceptional quality-to-price value. The Cuvée Cascaillou is the estate’s flagship wine, crafted from low-yielding vines and built for age-worthiness.. TASTING NOTES. Aged for 12 months in ovoid tanks to maximise lees contact and texture without oxidation, this wine is bold, structured, and expressive. Notes of dark berry fruit, liquorice, warm spice, and violet leap from the glass. The palate is full-bodied, with a refined dusty tannic grip and a long, elegant finish. Silky yet intense.. FOOD PAIRING. Perfect with rich beef or lamb dishes, such as braised short ribs or grilled lamb chops. Also excellent with game birds like duck or pigeon, particularly when paired with earthy accompaniments.. FRIARWOOD SAYS. This is the estate’s top wine, and it shows.
