Product Description
Drink it now or cellar for up to 8 years. No need to decant. Located in Ménétréol-sous-Sancerre in the Loire Valley, the Gitton Père et Fils estate was founded in 1945 by Huguette & Marcel Gitton, initially with about half a hectare of vineyards. Today, the estate, managed by the founders' son Pascal, his wife Denise, and their daughter Chanel, owns approximately 33 hectares spread across three appellations in the region and produces excellent white and red wines that fully express the identity of the local terroirs. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes come from the Les Montachins parcel, located approximately 180-200 meters above sea level. The vines, planted between 1972 and 1988, enjoy a 20-30% slope and a western exposure. The soil is calcareous. After harvesting, fermentation occurs spontaneously, and the finished wine then ages in stainless steel for 6 months. The result is a highly representative wine of the Sancerre wine district, with a fresh and mineral character. On the nose, the wine reveals a broad and lively aromatic profile with notes of green apple and citrus, followed by hints of nectarine and white flowers. On the palate, it is dry and crisp, clean, and medium-bodied. It has vibrant acidity and a distinctive minerality. The finish is long and mouthwatering. It makes a stunning aperitif and pairs deliciously with creamy vegetable soups, fried calamari, and oysters.
