This estate, based in Meursault, dates back six generations to 1885 and was previously known as Domaine Jean Boillot. The Domaine owns 15ha of vineyards from Puligny-Montrachet through to Clos de Vougeot in the Cote de Nuits, including the excellent Premier Cru monopole of Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Mouchere, located within the Premier Cru Les Perrieres. The wines from Henri Boillot are released either as Domaine Henri Boillot for wines from vineyards owned by the domaine, and Maison Henri Boillot for those from purchased grapes. The Clos de Vougeot is produced from a small 0.34 hectares plot. Henri Boillot's Clos de Vougeot is produced from a small 0.34 hectares plot of land with south-east exposure and deep clay-limestone soils. The winemaking is relatively traditional, and the wines are aged in small French oak barrels, of which generally up to 50% are new. These tend to be wines of great power but also of great structure and freshness. The wine is available in 75cl bottles, making it suitable for both men and women.
