Product Description
Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Labara is a young winery located in the village of Vartsikhe, in an area renowned for its long and prestigious winemaking tradition. Here in Georgia's Imereti region, Labara founders Dato Gagua and Shalva Sikharulidze produce top-notch natural wines from indigenous grape varieties on their 12 hectares of vineyards, spread between Vartsikhe and Salkhino. Labara Saperavi is a dry red wine that fully expresses the intense character of the Saperavi grape, an ancient Georgian variety, which thrives in the Kakheti region. The vines enjoy a particularly favorable climate and are rooted in mineral-rich soils. These particular conditions and the unique and noble profile of the Saperavi give the wine depth and power. In the glass, it reveals a bright, intense ruby red color. Its aromatic profile is broad and complex, with initial notes of plums, ripe cherries, and wild berries, followed by spicy peppery notes and a hint of wood in the background. On the palate, it is bold and vigorous, full-bodied and balanced with firm yet smooth tannins and a lively acidity. It is juicy and concentrated, with a long finish that evokes notes of wild berries interspersed with vanilla aromas. Try it with braised beef, venison served with chocolate sauce, or tangy aged cheeses.
