The Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay was the first ever wine created by the Ramey winery, and it continues to set a benchmark for premium Chardonnay all across the world. Ramey Wine Cellars was founded by David and Carla Ramey in 1996. It has been key in the creation of that classic, full-bodied, fruit-loaded Californian style, and the Rameys have also played an instrumental role in elevating California’s lofty reputation on the world stage. These days, the winery is in the hands of second-generation vintners, Claire and Alan Ramey. This Chardonnay has a round, luscious character, with mouth-filling notes of ripe pear, tangerine, vanilla and toasted hazelnut. The grapes came from Hyde Vineyard, which is a mythical location on the border of Carneros and Napa Valley. The vines grow in a deep clay loam, granting the grapes an incomparable richness. Hints of tropical fruit and pleasantly bitter citrus rind linger on the finish. Pair this wine with meaty white fish, roast chicken or creamy cheeses.
