Dominus Estate's Napanook is a 75cl red wine from Napa Valley, 2019. The producer, Christian Moueix, discovered the Napanook vineyard in 1981 during travels in California. The vineyard is nestled in a natural amphitheatre at the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains and is thought to be where Napa's first vines were planted. The estate consists of 40 hectares planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot in gravelly clay loam soils. The vineyard is organically and sustainably farmed, and the farm is planted throughout with indigenous plant species and wildflowers to provide refuge for local wildlife. The vines are dry-farmed, relying only on the water naturally present in the soil, without any irrigation. Napanook is a blend of Bordeaux varietals carefully chosen from the historic Napanook vineyard.
