Product Description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Located in the Langhe region of Piedmont, the Pio Cesare family winery was founded in 1881 and is now recognized as one of the most prestigious in the area for its extraordinary wines produced in a traditional style. Today, the estate, which owns approximately 70 hectares of vineyards, including several famous crus, is managed by Pio Boffa. Pio Cesare's Barbaresco is an elegant and iconic red made with Nebbiolo grapes from select vineyards located between Treiso and San Rocco Seno d'Elvio. After fermentation in stainless steel and a period of maceration on the skins, the finished wine ages in a mix of Slavonian oak barrels and barriques for 30 months. In the glass, the wine reveals an intense ruby color with light garnet reflections. Its aromatic profile is broad with fruity notes of blackberry and cherry, followed by hints of licorice and tobacco, and some spicy nuances. On the palate, it is distinctive, concentrated, and well-structured, with dense, well-integrated tannins and a hint of freshness. The finish is long and delicately spicy. It is excellent with beef Stroganoff or pappardelle with wild boar ragu.
