Product Description
1 x 75cl. The producer, Penfolds, has a rich history dating back to 1844 when Dr Christopher and Mary Penfold planted vine cuttings from Europe at Magill Estate in South Australia. Through innovation and hard work, Penfolds became South Australia's largest winery by the early twentieth century. Winemaker Max Schubert joined the operation in 1948 and experimented with different blends of wines and the use of American oak, leading to the creation of ground-breaking wines. The Grange project, which started in 1951, was initially shelved but wines were made and stored in secret until it was officially re-instated in 1960. Around the same time, the 'Bin' concept emerged, where wines of different source and blend were given bin numbers on release. Some of these Bin wines, such as 60A, 620, and 42, have become continual releases to this day, while others had short runs or were only released in exceptional years.
