Alexana Terroir Series Pinot Noir 2021

Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Founded by cardiologist Dr. Madaiah Revana in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, Alexana Winery is an 80-acre estate with a wide variety of soils and topography. Named after Dr. Revana’s daughter Alexandra, the winery features a three-story, modern gravity-flow cellar built to the highest standards of sustainability. The Terroir Series Pinot Noir is made from a blend of different clones from various parcels distributed throughout the Willamette Valley that include the young Revana vineyards in Dundee Hills but also Yamhill-Carlton, Eola-Amity, Chehalem Mountains, and McMinnville. After harvest, fermentation occurs separately for each parcel and the finished wine then rests for 11 months in French oak (about a quarter of which is new). In the glass, the wine reveals a clear color, with bright ruby ​​tones. Its aromatic profile is broad and fragrant with notes of wild cherry and berries, followed by hints of violet and spice on an earthy background. On the palate, it is lively and expressive, fresh and fruity with a medium body and a long soft finish that recalls notes of cherry and undergrowth. It makes a perfect match with roasted portobello mushrooms, mushroom risotto, and roast duck.
