Product Description
Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Originally founded in the second half of the 17th century, and owned by the Marone Cinzano family since 1973, the Col D'Orcia estate is located on the southern slope of Montalcino, below the hamlet of Sant'Angelo in Colle. Today, the company owns 142 hectares of vineyards, cultivated with organic methods. The vineyards, facing south and overlooking the Orcia river, enjoy protection from the bad weather of Monte Amiata and the temperate influence of the sea. Brunello di Montalcino Col d'Orcia is produced exclusively with Sangiovese grapes, harvested by hand. After fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, the wine ages in barrique for 4 years and a further 12 months in the bottle. Its color is ruby red with garnet reflections. Its aromatic profile is fine and elegant and recalls roses and ripe red fruit, with smoky touches and spicy notes. On the palate, it is fresh and balanced, with ripe tannins and excellent structure. The finish is long and persistent and recalls notes of cherry and other red fruit. It pairs deliciously with game and red meat. It is perfect with wild boar ragu and aged cheeses, such as the traditional Tuscan Pecorino.
