Founded in 1980 in Napa Valley, California, Rombauer Vineyards is an estate with 670 acres of vineyards spread across some of the area's most prestigious subregions including Carneros, Stags Leap, and Sierra Foothills. The Rombauer family directly manages the company which produces Californian wines based on Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Sauvignon Blanc, widely appreciated by critics and consumers. The grapes for this wine are selected in Carneros from the Rombauer family vineyard and bought from other selected winemakers. Fermentation takes place in barrels and the finished wine then rests in French and American oak barrels for 9 months. The Proprietor Selection Chardonnay is a fruity and soft wine with a pale yellow color and a ripe and tropical aromatic profile. On the nose, it reveals notes of pineapple, pear and cooked apple, lemon zest and custard, white peach, and sweet spices. On the palate, it is round and concentrated, generous, and with a pleasant acidic streak that balances its fruity intensity. The finish is fresh and long. It is a silky and well-balanced wine that pairs beautifully with lobster and all shellfish in general. For a special pairing, try it with spaghetti Carbonara!
