Product Description
Marchesi Antinori's Tignanello is often described as the wine that changed Chianti and Italy. Piero Antinori, taking over the centuries-old family wine business as a young man, was the visionary who reduced the cropping of his best Sangiovese vineyard and added international variety Cabernet Sauvignon to the blend, which was unusual at the time. He also insisted on ageing the wine in French barriques. Tignanello is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, between Greve and Pesa, and the Tignanello vineyard consists of 57 hectares of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon planted on limestone-rich soils 350 meters above sea level. Tignanello was an immediate hit with the first two vintages – 1971 and 1975 – wowing the Italian wine world, and later the international wine community. Antinori grew into a wine empire, and Tignanello, along with its sibling Solaia, is now considered one of the top wines internationally. This wine is a 75cl red wine, suitable for both men and women.
