Domaine Guerrin & Fils, Saint Veran 'Le Clos Vessats', 2022

ABOUT THE WINE. The estate was created in 1926, in the heart of the village of Vergisson. Today the 4th generation of the family Guerrin cultivates their terroir with the same passion and rigour as their great-grandparents before them. The estate covers a total area of 14 hectares split between more than 35 small plots. This exceptional diversity of terroirs gives each of their wines a very distinct character.. TASTING NOTES. A very expressive Saint-Véran, revealing aromas of citrus and white flowers, especially acacia. On the palate, the wine is rounded and smooth, with lovely fresh fruit flavours of pear, peach, and a hint of fresh hazelnut. The finish is marked by a pleasantly subtle buttery smoothness - coming not from oak, but from 12 months of lees-ageing.. FOOD PAIRING. It makes a wonderful accompaniment to fish, chicken dishes, and soft cheese and can also be enjoyed on its own as an aperitif.. FRIARWOOD SAYS. From a 2-hectare plot of 20-year-old vines, hand-harvested and farmed without pesticides. Fermentation takes place in steel and concrete vats, using natural yeasts.
