Product Description
Enjoy it now, or cellar for a few years. No need to decant before serving. Dried apricot, white peach, melon and hints of smoke emerge on the nose of this deeply coloured amber wine. Mtsvane is a white grape variety indigenous to Georgia, translating to “green” - as in new, young, or fresh. The fruits for this orange wine were harvested from the region of Kartli, before being fermented underground in clay amphorae, known as qvevri. Lagvinari is a Kakheti winery, located on the right bank of the stunning Alazani River, near the small village of Bakurtsikhe. It was founded by Doctor Eko Glonti, a former cardio anesthesiologist, whose stellar wines have made it to the menus of multiple Michelin-starred restaurants around the world. His former life in medicine has infused a great amount of care into his winemaking, as he tends the vineyards with minimal intervention and fully organic methods. Lagvinari’s Mtsvane Kakhuri is a tannic and full-bodied amber wine, with flavours of dried tropical fruits, apple and pear, coupled with hints of herbs, smoke, and resin. It is dry and refreshingly acidic, leading into a long finish with hints of bitter walnut. A fantastic wine, rustic and crisp, from one of the oldest wine regions in the entire world. Let it breathe for a few minutes before serving it alongside a goat’s cheese salad, chicken, or herby, grilled fish.
