This vineyard is on loess soil, formed over millennia by top soil being blown into volcanic craters and getting trapped there. The wine is described as 'a bit more lean' and tends to have a nicer scidic backbone than their volcanic soil, but not as much minerality. It's mostly stainless steel with some oak, but no new oak. The wine has daphne and bluebell florals, a touch of honeysuckle, and a gorgeous flood of fruit and sweet acidity. It's really ripe orchard stone fruit, with a touch of cobnuts, something green and creamy - avocado-like, nutty. The fruit is what steals the show, and the energy is lively. This wine is paired brilliantly with shellfish and delicate meaty fish such as monkfish. It's a velvety Pinot Gris with elegant fruit notes like pineapple and pear, as well as a very harmonious acidity.
