This Trockenbeerenauslese wine is a 75cl bottle from the Röttgen vineyard, a VDP.GROSSE LAGE (Grand Cru) classified vineyard in Germany. The grapes were grown on 50-60 year old vines and carefully selected by hand, with the raisins dried on the vines and then selected again in the cellar. The wine has a south / south-west facing vineyard with soil rich in iron and slate. It has been described as shimmering in intensity, with flavors of salted caramel and salted apricots. The wine is so concentrated and perfect, but also very young, making it best suited for aging. Tamlyn Currin, a wine writer for Jancis Robinson, has given it a score of 19.5/20, calling it the 'Nectar of the Gods'.
