Domaine Amelie & Charles Sparr Pinot Blanc Pensee 2023

Drink it now or cellar for up to 8 years. No need to decant. The Sparr family has a long winemaking tradition that dates back nearly 400 years and 12 generations. Today, the estate is managed by Charles Sparr, who after studying in Burgundy and California, decided to return to Alsace to produce his wines. In 2013, with the marriage with Amélie Buecher, the estate expanded, thanks to the joining of the vineyards of the two families. The Alsace Pinot Blanc Pensée is an elegant white made from hand-picked grapes mainly from the vineyard located around the village of Sigolsheim on stony soils. After harvesting and gentle pressing, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in steel tanks with only indigenous yeasts (as with all the estate's wines). The finished wine then rests on the lees in stainless steel for just under a year, before bottling. The result is an expressive wine, with a fragrant and delicate aromatic profile with floral notes, followed by hints of straw, yellow plum, and candied lemon. On the palate, it is juicy and ripe with a succulent fruit concentration and a fresh and lively character. It has a well-balanced acidity and a medium-light body that make it ideal with salads, pan-fried sea bass, and seafood.
