Product Description
Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Located in the Slovenian wine region of Goriška Brda, an area that benefits from the Mediterranean influence and protection of the Alps, the Edi Simčič winery was founded in 1989 and is now run by Edi and his son, Aleks. The estate, which began with a small production of around 2,000 bottles, now extends across over 12 hectares of vineyards, where native and international varieties are cultivated to produce excellent quality wines divided into three lines (the base, the LEX, and the Single Vineyards). The Chardonnay grapes come exclusively from the vineyard planted in 1986 in Kozana, at approximately 130 meters above sea level. Here, the vines enjoy highly permeable clayey soil with large stones and a sunny northwest exposure. The unique soil and climate conditions of this extraordinary site favor the production of a deep, fresh wine capable of aging beautifully. In the glass, Kozana Chardonnay reveals a clear, brilliant color with golden hues and a seductive, fragrant aromatic profile with floral notes of yellow fruit, followed by hints of caramel on a mineral undertone. On the palate, it is rich, consistent, robust, and elegant. It has well-balanced acidity and a long, and savory finish. It is a distinctive wine, perfect for pairing with tuna, salmon, or lobster, but also with veal ossobuco.
