Product Description
Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Founded by Yiannis Boutaris in Naoussa in the late 1990s, Kir-Yianni is one of the most important Greek wineries and one of the most renowned producers of Xinomavro. The vineyards, which extend for 58 hectares, are located in the northwest area of the country, between Naoussa and Amyndeon, on the western side of Mount Vermion. Today the company is directed by Stellios Boutaris. The Xinomavro grapes come from old vines planted in the vineyard on the hills of Naoussa and in fact, Ramnista means ‘royal hill’. Here the ideal conditions of altitude and climate guarantee the production of a lively and balanced wine. After fermentation, the finished wine matures in French oak barrels. The Xinomavro Ramnista Kir-Yianni is an elegant wine that reveals a bright medium ruby color. Its aromatic profile is fragrant with notes of red fruit such as strawberry, cherry, and raspberry, and then rose petals, vanilla and other sweet spices, aromatic herbs, and tea leaves. On the palate, it has a medium body and good fruity intensity. It is fresh with balanced acidity and fine, well-integrated tannins. The finish is long and recalls notes of sweet spices. Excellent with moussaka, braised beef or lamb, and meatballs in tomato sauce.
