Product Description
Cellar for up to 15 years. Decant for up to an hour before serving. This is a Burgundian Pinot Noir, sourced from low-lying, clay-rich soils in the commune of Chassagne-Montrachet. The region is known for its vividly coloured wines, and this one is a purple-red colour in the glass, with a sumptuous bouquet of sour cherry, gooseberry, raspberry, warm soil, and spice. Founded in the 1970s, Domaine Marc Colin et Fils is located in the sunny interior of the Côte de Beaune, spanning just 12 hectares of vineyards. Now owned and operated by Marc Colin’s two children, Caroline and Damien, the winery is perhaps better known for its range of white Burgundy, but as a mark of their skill, they create a tremendous range of red Burgundy too. The old vine Chassagne-Montrachet is sumptuous and well-rounded in the mouth, showing supple tannins and rollicking acidity. Accents of mushroom and forest floor appear on the palate, with deep notes of raspberry, red cherry, and minerality. The grapes came from 65-year-old vines, and were aged in oak for 15 months before release. The finish is long and smooth, with delicate earthy notes. Consider pairing this wine with beef bourguignon, Gruyère, or a charcuterie board.
