Product Description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in the Alpartir area near Zaragoza, Bodegas Frontonio was founded by Fernando Mora, who began making wine at home as a hobby in 2008. Today, the winery produces a limited quantity of wines from traditional varietals (primarily Garnacha) grown on old vineyards. The name represents the winery's unconventional philosophy. Saint Frontonio, the patron saint of the city of Épila, was beheaded for his Christian faith. Legend has it that his head was thrown into the Ebro River as it passed through Zaragoza, traveled upstream, and reappeared near Épila. The Garnacha grapes are sourced from the La Cerqueta parcel, located approximately 630 meters above sea level in Alpartir. Here, the vines, over 75 years old, are organically grown and trained as bush vines, rooted in slate and limestone soils. After manual harvesting and fermentation in concrete tanks with indigenous yeasts, the finished wine ages in large oak vats for approximately one year. In the glass, Bodegas Frontonio Parcela La Cerqueta Garnacha reveals an intense carmine color with purple highlights. Its aromatic profile is fruity with notes of currant, raspberry, and wild berries, floral hints, and a slightly smoky touch of aromatic herbs. On the palate, it is energetic and elegant, fresh and taut with a splendid minerality and a long, delicately spicy finish. Try it with roast lamb or pork tenderloin.
