Product Description
Drink it now or cellar for up to 5 years. No need to decant. Founded in Greve in Chianti in 1974 by Giuseppe Castiglioni, the Querciabella farm has extended its vineyards up to the current 106 hectares distributed between Chianti and Maremma, in the south of Tuscany, where local vines such as Sangiovese and Vermentino are grown together with international grape varieties. The company, now led by Sebastiano, Giuseppe's son, was converted to the biodynamic regime in 2000. Mongrana is a white wine made from Vermentino and sometimes Viognier grapes, coming from the estate's vineyards. The yields per hectare are kept low to guarantee the wine excellent concentration and an expressive character. After fermentation under controlled conditions, the wine ages in concrete and stainless steel tanks for 6 months. During the various winemaking processes, no products of animal origin are used and therefore the wine can be consumed by both vegetarians and vegans. The wine has a delicate color with lemon-yellow notes. The nose reveals a fresh and captivating bouquet with aromas of citrus and stone fruit, white flowers, and aromatic herbs. On the palate, it has a slight oily texture and a marked acidity that makes it lean and refreshing. The finish recalls white flowers and citrus notes. It is the perfect wine for summer dishes based on Mediterranean vegetables and fried calamari.
