Product Description

Cellar for up to 15 years. Decant for up to an hour before serving. Mukuzani is one of Georgia’s most famous appellations, responsible for a bold, dry style of red wine, made from 100% Saperavi. This is a top-tier example of the region, bursting with dark fruits. Scents of plum, honey and blackberry all mingle on the nose, with an undercurrent of oak, spice and chocolate. Founded in 1962, Tbilvino has grown to become one of the biggest wineries in Georgia, in size and reputation. It was strictly a wine cellar until 2014, but under the leadership of brothers Zurab and Giorgi Margvelashvili, it has begun to cultivate and harvest grapes from estate-owned vineyards. This allows the winery to have even greater creative control, and has resulted in enormous popularity growth, at home and abroad. Although it is classified as a dry red, this Mukuzani shows hints of sweetness on the tongue, due to its fruit-driven character. Look for flavours of crème de cassis, blackberry and dark cocoa, with deeper, savoury hints of leather, forest floor and tobacco. The tannins are fine-grained, and a fresh acidity leads the wine to a long, satisfying finish. Enjoy Mukuzani alongside a charcuterie board, lamb, or the Georgian barbecue dish Mtsadi.
