Family-owned and operated, Steve Bird is one of few Māori winemakers in New Zealand and can trace his family history back 800 years to the arrival of the Te Arawa and Mataatua canoes. The Wairau region where he crafts his wines is known by the Māori as ‘kei puta te wairau’ – the place with the hole in the cloud – which refers to the outstanding protection provided by the hilly landscape. This Sauvignon Blanc has clean notes of elderflower, green mango, and lime.
