Known as Firethorn, Pyracantha Orange Glow is a tough, resilient, hardy, evergreen shrub, perfect for adding year-round interest to virtually any garden. With glossy green leaves providing structure and colour, it also boasts clusters of bee-friendly white flowers in the spring. The main attraction is its bright display of fiery orange berries, bringing a wonderful autumnal hue to your garden.This thorny shrub is virtually impenetrable, making it effective for use as a security hedge, but it is equally at home when trained against a wall or grown as a free-standing tall shrub. Left unpruned, it can reach up to 3m in height, but it responds well to a hard prune in autumn or spring to maintain a smaller size if desired.Plant in any well-drained, reliably moist soil in a sunny or partially shaded spot, sheltered from cold, drying winds. Feed and water regularly until established. Prune free-standing shrubs in early spring, removing any damaged or poorly positioned shoots.
