Almond 'Robijn'

Almond ?Robijn? is a wonderfully sweet flavoured almond, grown upon a highly ornamental tree that will produce feint pink coloured blooms in spring months. As ?Robijn? is grafted onto Peach ?St Julian?, a semi-dwarfing rootstock, it is advised not to plant near peach trees to avoid hybridisation, which can result in bitter tasting almond nuts. It will grow to a medium size, spreading tree with impressive resistance to the common peach leaf curl. Although hardy, almond trees do need frost free winters and warm dry summers to produce nuts, in locations with generally tame or frost free winter seasons, nuts will be ready for harvest three years after planting from late August. Almond trees are self-fertile but for improved pollination, plant alongside another almond tree.
