Product Description

With its showy blooms, Clematis Fujimusume deserves pride of place in the garden. This early, large-flowered variety produces single, purple-blue flowers with creamy yellow anthers from June to July, followed by attractive golden seed heads that provide interest well into autumn. Clematis Fujimusume is a robust yet relatively compact variety, ideal for growing against walls and fences or in a large patio container.Plant this Clematis in a position in sun or semi-shade, deeply in moist, fertile, well-drained soil, positioning the root ball at a depth of 7.5cm below soil level to encourage new shoots to form from the base of the plant. Clematis dislikes soils that are particularly wet or dry; improve these conditions with the addition of well-rotted manure or garden compost. When growing in containers, use a good quality soil-based compost. Train plants onto a suitable support such as a trellis, wires or a freestanding climbing frame. Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season.Clematis Fujimusume flowers in summer on new stems developed from the previous year’s growth. Prune Group Two clematis in spring, before active growth begins, by removing any damaged or dead stems entirely before cutting back the remaining stems to a healthy pair of buds. Mulch with well-rotted manure or garden compost at the base of the plant in spring to protect the roots and conserve soil moisture.Ideal for patios, walls and fences, cottage gardens and scented gardens. This hardy plant prefers a position in sun or semi-shade. Height: Up to 300cm. Spread: Up to 100cm.
