Château Fonplégade 2017/19, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

Château Fonplégade, literally ‘fountain of plenty’, is named after a 13th-century stone fountain that graces the estate's vineyard. This historic water source quenched the thirst of passing pilgrims for hundreds of years. Today, it continues to provide sustenance to its surrounding vines in the driest vintages. The estate is a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture in Bordeaux, having gained certification in 2020. Expect fresh notes of violet, plus ripe blueberry, strawberry and blackcurrant, with hints of tobacco smoke. Powerful yet elegant, match its silky character with soft-textured meaty dishes, like a blade of beef pot roast.
