Corrosion-Inhibiting One-Component Primer for Steel Reinforcement Protection. Mapei Mapefer 1K is a one-component, ready-to-use, anti-corrosion cementitious coating specifically designed for protecting reinforcing steel in concrete repair applications. It forms a durable, flexible barrier against aggressive environmental agents such as chlorides and carbon dioxide, and ensures excellent adhesion between steel and repair mortars. Form: Grey powder, mixed with water. Application Method: Brush or spray. Packaging: 5kg buckets. Mix Ratio: Approx. 0.17–0.18L water per kg of powder. Pot Life: Approx. 1 hour at +20°C. Steel Prep: Mechanically remove all rust, scale, grease, and contaminants from reinforcement bars (minimum to SA 2½).. Mixing: Slowly add Mapefer 1K powder to water and mix until a smooth, lump-free paste is formed.. First Coat: Apply the first coat by brush and allow it to dry for at least 2 hours.. Second Coat: Apply the second coat in the opposite direction. Allow full drying before applying repair mortar.. Limitations. Do not apply below +5°C or above +35°C ambient temperature.. Not suitable as a standalone structural repair product — use in combination with Mapei mortars.. Health & Safety. Contains cement — may cause irritation. Avoid skin and eye contact.
