Product Description

ROC produces a comprehensive range of OE-matching quality gas springs, most complete with end fittings and covering almost every European & Asian vehicle. Gas Springs are pivotal components in vehicles, employing a steel cylinder filled with high-pressure nitrogen gas, a small amount of oil, a piston, piston rod, seals, and end fittings. These springs facilitate the controlled opening and closing of a vehicle's boot or bonnet, supporting their weight when open. The piston's design ensures that gas pressure forces it and the rod to full extension. Gas spring specifications are tailored to each application's weight requirements, adjusting piston areas and gas pressure accordingly. Manufacturing gas springs involves high-quality materials, with tubes made from pressure vessel steel, finely ground and polished steel bars for piston rods, and special, wear-resistant materials for rod guides and gaskets. The cylinders are painted with corrosion-inhibiting paint, and each gas spring undergoes rigorous load, deflection, and speed testing to ensure quality. ROC's attention to detail and testing procedures provide lifetime assurance, with each spring clearly marked for easy identification. Safety Gas springs contain oil and pressurised gas. Never attempt to open or drill into a gas spring. For safety, spring installation should be undertaken by a competent person and instructions from a recognised repair manual should be followed. Compare the design, length, and end fittings against the existing spring. Check the mounting points on the vehicle's body are clean and in good condition. If damaged, they should be changed or repaired before the replacement spring is installed. Gas springs support the weight of a vehicle's boot or bonnet. To avoid injuries, always ensure that the boot or bonnet is secured before replacing springs. Where the end fitting is a 'ball and socket' design, it is important that the safety clips are correctly located after fitting. Where applicable, we recommend that gas springs are replaced in pairs. Design Gas springs consist of a pressure tube, piston rod, piston, seals, and other components. They contain a small amount of oil that produces a damping effect, as well as keeping the sealslubricated. Gas springs are filled with compressed nitrogen, which forces the piston rod to extend once compressed. The gas pressure within the spring is set to provide the correct force, based on the weight ofthe boot or bonnet. Cold temperatures reduce the lifting capabilities of gas springs - the force stated on a gas spring is established at a temperature of 20°C and the operating force of the spring will then alter depending on the environmental temperatures during use, with variation at a rate of +/- 0.34% per change in degree Celsius. ROC gas springs are made in accordance with ISO9001 & ISO14001. ROC gas springs are inspected and tested before delivery.
