Swan neck pan connectors are usually used when a modern close coupled pan (cistern attached directly to the back of the pan) is installed in place of an old low-level pan (pan connected to a wall-hung cistern by a flush pipe).The outlet of a close coupled pan is closer to the wall in this instance, hence the swan neck connector is required to enable the pan to be connected to the original soil pipe outlet without the need for any modifications to the pipe.All of the fins on the outlet of the pan connector should be pushed securely into the soil pipe to make the connection. The neck of the pan is then pushed inside the large ring seal at the top of the pan connector. A small application of silicon spray is often useful to facilitate this pan connection. Once the connection has been made, double check that no part of the seal is kinked or trapped.Our pan connectors are made in durable polypropylene to BS5627:1984. The integral sealing diaphragm allows for out of alignment connections of up to 5 degrees in any direction.Click here to watch our video showing how to install a trap.
