Amber is the secretion of the Sperm Whale, a cetacean that lives in the Indian Ocean by releasing this substance naturally into the water. This raw material is carried by the waves and sometimes floats for decades on the sea. The sun and the water of the oceans purify it until it takes on the sweet and unmistakable scent of the sea and leather that has fascinated man since its origin.When the Amber is fresh, it is black in colour, but dried in the sun, it turns grey and, in addition to its waxy consistency, takes on a delicious perfume that is sometimes reminiscent of tobacco. The waves deposit it on the beaches of Madagascar and often after months of floating it drifts into the Indian Ocean. It is one of the most precious fragrances of animal origin. As it matures it acquires an intense musky, oriental and persistent odour and this is why it has always been a highly sought-after perfumed raw material.
