Savane des Petrifications Hike

The Petrification Savannah, in French called "Savane des Pétrifications" is at the southernmost end of the peninsula of St. Anne. The place owes its strange name to the fact that fossilised pieces of wood and even trees could once be admired there. In fact it is the oldest part of Martinique. Not far from the Petrification Savannah, you can take a break to appreciate the charms of the beach at the Big Cove of Les Salines (Grande Anse des Salines - the most famous beach of Martinique), whose fine sand, coconut trees and turquoise sea delight sunbathers.
