Wonderland marks Hollys first new album in three years and is a new beginning for the Galwayborn and Yorkshireraised songwriter. Taking full control of her creative output for the very first time, Macve coproduced part of the 12 track release alongside Dan Rothman London Grammar, and assembled some of her most trusted collaborators including Beatrice Balagna sound engineer and David Saunders strings in the recording of the album.The creation of Wonderland followed an unprecedented period of profound transformation for Holly Macve. A major turning point came when Holly was driving down Los Angeles famous Los Angeles Coldwater Canyon off Mulholland Drive and was involved in an accident that found her rental car flipped on its side. Macve left the accident remarkably unharmed, but with an altered mindset, she expands, When you go through experiences like that, it gives you a whole new perspective on life.Alongside this watershed event, Holly also found herself at the end of a long term relationship, so feeling completely uncalibrated, she took herself to the Golden State with hopes of rediscovering who she was when alone. What came of that time was a renewed sense of purpose and a new hopeful outlook all of which can be heard and felt across Wonderland. Releasing the record via her own label Loving Memory Records Wonderland feels especially close to Hollys newfound peace, she elaborated, I think that Wonderland is meant to represent the next chapter in my life, which is me being unashamedly myself and just appreciating being alive.
