Joseph Phelps fell in love with Napa vineyards whilst working there on a project for his Colorado construction company. By 1973 he had released his first vintage. Best known for his Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines, he soon built a strong reputation and his wines are considered Californian cult classics. 2017 was a complex vintage after wild fires devastated many vineyards. The typical blend is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with a little Petit Verdot, Merlot, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc. This 75cl bottle has an ABV of 14%. It is suitable for beef, lamb, venison, and rich vegetarian dishes.
