Sailor's Farewell Small Plate 17cm

This side plate, crafted in fine bone china, focuses on the charming central character in the whimsical tale of the Sailorâs Farewell created by designer Kit Kemp. She is the loved-one, standing on a rock in a yellow dress, waving goodbye to her sailor with a red scarf flying in the wind. Inspired by a drawing, Kit originally created the innovative design for a fabric and the pale blue linen-like finish echoes this, skilfully embellished by Wedgwoodâs craftsmen with a deeper blue and a hand-applied 22 carat gold trim. The plate is backstamped for authenticity and beautifully presented in a Wedgwood signature blue gift box. This is the second collection from Wedgwood and Kit Kemp who, as a renowned designer, enjoys seeing her love of simple, lyrical folk art realized in fine tableware so much so that the range is now used in two of the ten boutique hotels she co-owns in New York and London.
