Pao Portable table lamp with rechargeable battery The Pao Portable table lamp is part of the Pao lamp collection created by Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa for HAY. Named after the soft shape of traditional Mongolian Pao tents, Pao draws on Fukasawa's aesthetic of beautiful simplicity. In this way, he created an everyday object that draws on design values found in nature. By keeping the aesthetics plain and simple, he harmonises the design with its surroundings. Both the base and the lampshade of the table lamp are made of a durable polycarbonate with a smooth, high-gloss surface. The light's light source is concealed inside the lampshade behind an opal polycarbonate diffuser, creating an efficient, diffuse downward light with a warm, cosy glow. Thanks to its battery operation, the compact light can be used as an atmospheric light source in a wide variety of places in the house, garden or on the patio. There is a switch in the base of the light that can be used to switch the light to different brightness levels. Naoto Fukasawa founded his own company, Naoto Fukasawa Design, in 2003. His designs are known for Fukasawa's ability to access and communicate the true essence of an object.
