Clerodendrum trichotomum var. fargesii

This showy and unusual shrub offers a long season of interest with its bold foliage, late summer flowers and extraordinary autumn berries. Clerodendrum trichotomum var. fargesii forms a tall, bushy shrub with large, ovate leaves that are tinged with bronze when young. In late summer, green to pink buds burst into clusters of highly fragrant, starry white flowers. Come autumn, the flowers transform into shiny, jewel-like fruits with a central turquoise ‘bead’ surrounded by crimson calyces. This fast-growing deciduous shrub makes a fine specimen for a large border where it adds valuable late season interest. RHS Award of Garden Merit. Ultimate height and spread: 6m (20ft).
